Does anyone have any life hacks for working at home effectively?
I sometimes struggle to get good work done at home. There's the obvious things you can do – work in a room other than your bedroom, remove distractions, get out of the house for breaks, establish a routine etc. But I was wondering if anyone does anything more out-of-the-ordinary?

I use the online tool HourStack. You can input your tasks in a weekly planner and how long you 'think' they will take. Then time yourself when you start the task, the timer displays in the tab which is helpful to stay focused! The tool then saves how long the work actually took, handy for future reference. I'm always way over but it helps me to focus on the task at hand, have more awareness of how much I get distracted and be more realistic when planning in future work. I use the free version :)

My bad. It was a free trial version which expired :/ They didn't make it very clear!

May sound a bit stupid but dress as if you're leaving the house and meeting someone important. Can help get you in the right frame of mind.

Leo, totally agree. Having worked from home on and off for 30 years, dressing as if you are going to a meeting, is all important. PJ's at 3:00pm is a slippery slope.

sometimes I set my alarm at either 30 min / 1 hour intervals and have a super short break in between. it really helps me to focus as I know I'm on 'work-time'. more often that not I end up snoozing the alarm as I'm in the zone...!

This is definitely helping!
